The Return of the Iconic SUB 600T
By Amanda Evans | 3 minute read
During this Summer DOXA launched its hugely successful SUB 600T Pacific. Such was the success of this limited-edition piece, the icon now returns to an eagerly awaiting audience, in stainless steel as a non-limited edition.
When the SUB 600T first launched 40 years ago it was instantly recognisable as a DOXA diver with its vibrant orange dial and angular lines typical of the 80s. Featuring a sturdy chamfered block with straight angles, an ergonomically functional unidirectional bezel to allow ease of gripping with a gloved hand to and a crown offset at 4 o’clock, it was loyal to the design principles of form follows function. The DOXA Sub 600T not only had a striking and bold aesthetic but was also a professional and affordable diving watch that delivered on its promise. Waterproof to 600 metres, it became an icon of the diving world.
The new line-up in stainless steel features a choice of steel bezel insert or black ceramic insert presented on either a stainless-steel bracelet or an FKM rubber strap. Available as a collection of 9 models with emblematic DOXA dial and strap colours, the SUB 600T pays homage to its standout looks that defined it during the 80s, including the three hands and date feature on the dial. The diameter of the robust 316L stainless steel case also remains unchanged at 40mm and is topped with sapphire crystal, protecting both the case and movements, and ensuring its resistance to pressure, even in the most ambitious depths of up to 600 metres. The unidirectional bezel enables calculation of a safe ascent without decompression stops and features both dive time and depth indicators. Dive-related indicators are all coated with luminescent Super-LumiNova® to ensure maximum visibility in low light and 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock all feature the distinctive ‘shark tooth’ markers.
This striking new collection of SUB 600T is available on either a corresponding rubber strap to match the dial with new folding buckle for ease of adjustment, or the new 316L stainless steel bracelet which presents a modern vintage appeal. Both options feature the characteristic ‘DOXA fish’ symbol and are a welcome addition to the line-up of SUB 600T.
