Award-winning and hugely successful Swiss watch brand TUDOR has delighted us once again with the launch of the spectacular Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze. This welcome addition to the already coveted collection most closely replicates the divers’ watches adopted by the French and US navies in the 1950s.

First launched in 2012, the Black Bay has continued to inspire us with additions to the flagship collection that pays homage to the past yet is very much anchored in the present. Blending traditional aesthetics with state-of-the-art watchmaking and quality finishing above and beyond current industry standards, it is no wonder that this collection is so sought after.

This year has been big for TUDOR. Watches and Wonders revealed several stunning pieces from the brand to include some pleasantly surprising additions to the Black Bay collection in the form of the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K and the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925, the latter of which illustrates the brand’s own silver alloy being used for the first time in a TUDOR dive watch. This inspiring diversification in the use of metals in the Black Bay Fifty-Eight collection leads beautifully into the launch of the new Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze.

TUDOR is no stranger to working with bronze and the brand’s expertise has been harnessed in the release of the Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze. The new rich colour palette and fearless total bronze look epitomises the brand’s mantra of Born to Dare. Featuring a bracelet made entirely of this metal, with a new clasp and rapid adjustment system, a TUDOR first, this uncompromising design harnesses both high technical performance as well as refined aesthetics that reflect its naval inspiration.

We are delighted to offer the TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze in our White City Boutique. This piece is a shining example of the innovative and boundary-pushing technology we have come to expect from the brand. The stunning bronze casing widely used in engineering with its high resistance to corrosion is the perfect metal of choice for interpretation of naval heritage. With the 39mm bronze case and bracelet developing a unique patina over time, this living metal grants the wearer a rewarding illustrative history that reflects their lifestyle.

The Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze model is the first watch model by TUDOR to have a bracelet made entirely from bronze. Fitted with a new bronze clasp with a ‘T-fit’ rapid adjustment system and redesigned cover, wearers can make fine adjustments with ease along the length of the 8mm bracelet. Complimentary to this stunning bronze strap and paying tribute to the brand’s naval heritage is a fabric strap, one of TUDOR’s hallmarks and woven in France on 19th Century Jacquard looms by the Julien Faure Company.

The shaded matt “brown-bronze” dial with applied hour markers and Arabic numerals at 3,6 and 9 o’clock features TUDOR’s iconic “Snowflake” hands, first introduced in 1969 and filled with grade A Swiss Super-Luminova® luminescent material for enhanced visibility. The bezel presents the same gold accents also found on the hands and hour markers and completes the rich brown-bronze colour palette of the face of the model. Powered by Manufacture Calibre MT5400 and certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute, and 70-hour power reserve, this has all the features and more of a superb timepiece, as we would expect from this luxury Swiss brand.
