The Watches of Switzerland Group is at the heart of the redevelopment of one of London’s most iconic landmarks. Battersea Power Station has been a part of London’s skyline since the 1930s, and was once responsible for supplying a fifth of the capital’s electricity. The site had been left to languish on the banks of the River Thames for many decades, but now it has been given a new lease of life as an exciting retail destination featuring no less than five luxury Watches of Switzerland Group showrooms. The development is a combination of high-end and high-street shops with entertainment venues, hotels and places to eat, housed within the Grade II listed building itself and along Electric Boulevard, a pedestrianised high street that is a gateway to the regenerated site.
Of course, the flagship will house a vast number of watches, including some very special Watches of Switzerland exclusive timepieces, such as the Zenith Chronomaster Original El Primero and Longines HydroConquest, plus a truly unique watch from Bremont – the 1947 Tick Up, a one-of-a-kind piece featuring a dial hand-painted by Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and a selection of exclusive Serpenti pieces from BVLGARI.
‘Battersea represents our biggest presence in any one centre, and we could not be more proud’
CRAIG BOLTON, PRESIDENT OF THE WATCHES OF SWITZERLAND GROUP, UK & EUROPE
Speaking about the development, Craig Bolton, President of the Watches of Switzerland Group UK and Europe, said: ‘This legendary London landmark has been brought back to life and will now have the feel of an innovative mix of neighbourhoods, giving the very best experiences of retail, dining and lifestyle. It represents our biggest presence in any one centre, and we could not be more excited and proud.,
‘As a Group, we strive to be the best retailer in the market, and this new destination enables us to deliver the finest product in a location we believe will be one where clients can create memories that last a lifetime.’
Served by a new extension to the London Underground, the £9 billion Battersea development will be a new business quarter for the city and provide a huge amount of housing, as well as being a great retail destination. This famous spot on the banks of the Thames is clearly the new place to be.
Craig Bolton sums it up: ‘When the project first came to our attention, we knew it was imperative that we have a strong presence at Battersea and we immediately seized the opportunity. We are incredibly excited to see all the hard work come to fruition.’
