The New Generation TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands
By Amanda Evans | 3 minute read
The iconic TAG Heuer Carrera collection has been revisited once again presenting the new generation TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands.
First introduced in the early 2000’s, the TAG Heuer Three Hands embraced the luxury brand’s strive for perfection and legibility when it came to telling the time. The new TAG Heuer Three Hands collection harnesses the same philosophy but with a new striking and contemporary design that ensures perfect readability.
In line with this exciting new launch, the luxury Swiss brand is also thrilled to announce the signing of Ryan Gosling as a brand ambassador in a world-first for the star. Gosling’s career in the film industry has seen him take on roles with common attributes that require him to be fearless, to challenge himself and to push the boundaries of possibility. Who better than to join TAG Heuer as its ambassador, where passion and effortless style are as central to the man as they are to the brand.
Since its first introduction more than two decades ago, the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands has become a centrepiece of our offering, and we are delighted to introduce a new line that ties the watch firmly to its illustrious roots, while projecting bold modernity and refinement. With 4 variations and 13 new timepieces, our clients and collectors will undoubtedly find the TAG Heuer Carrera that uniquely matches their lifestyle while enjoying its signature understated design and unrivalled legibility, features which have made it the lasting success it is.Frédéric Arnault, CEO of TAG Heuer

Explain to us, in your own words, about TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands collection.
This new Carrera collection includes four reimagined Carrera models: the 41mm day date, the 41mm Twin-Time, the 39mm date, and the 29mm date models. All versions feature a stainless-steel case, with twelve models being available with a steel bracelet, and the remaining model available with a leather strap. This new collection also features model updates such redesigned H-Shaped links, a more ergonomic case design, bolder hands, and improved indexes.
What makes the addition of the third hand so special?
The TAG Heuer Three Hand model was released in early 2000, providing great legibility and clarity whilst telling time. The third hand is the most precise and readable means of showing the time, and it is a natural successor to the dashboard timers made by TAG Heuer since the 1930s.
Is there any significant history?
The original name "Carrera" has a lot to do with motor sports. Jack Heuer first heard of the famous Carrera Panamericana car race, one of the most dangerous in the world, almost 60 years ago. The TAG Heuer Carrera family was named and designed with an emphasis on visibility and practicality in honour of all drivers who tackled the hardest road races in the Carrera Panamericana car race. Even now, more than 50 years later, it remains a model loved by many drivers and people worldwide.
Which model in the new Three Hands collection appeals to you most and why?
The 41mm blue day date is my favourite, with a distinguishable dial and a striking blue colour that makes for a pleasingly classic dress watch. Combining a day and date display with a clean, minimalist design and a clear, legible dial - it really looks terrific.
Who do you think this new collection will appeal to, and why?
As a new interpretation of the iconic Carrera models, this collection will appeal to men and women driving enthusiasts and professionals, as well as those seeking clean, beautiful timepieces, making it the ideal luxury watch for both occasion and everyday use.
