We are delighted to be joined by Christian Knoop, Creative Director of IWC Schaffhausen to discuss this year’s new releases at Watches and Wonders. Christian shares what’s new from IWC Schaffhausen, his favourite pieces and gives us an insight into what we can expect from the brand in the upcoming year.
What can you tell us about the new launches?
This year, the booth at Watches and Wonders is dedicated to the iconic IWC Schaffhausen Ingenieur. The Ingenieur watch represents the core values of the IWC Schaffhausen brand when it comes to engineering and progressive design. We are presenting four new models, three in stainless steel and one in titanium grade five. They are all 40mm models, with three hands, automatic winding and have been inspired by the famous design from Gerald Genta from 1976.
What is your favourite piece and why?
My favourite piece of the four is the titanium model. The titanium grade five is a material that very much represents the engineering DNA from IWC.
How would you describe IWC Schaffhausen in three words?
Three words. For me, IWC is about engineering, design and innovation.
What can we expect from IWC Schaffhausen in the upcoming year?
It’s very important for us as a brand to send a clear message about our core values and about the four pieces we want to talk about, and there is definitely more to come in the rest of the year.
What timepiece are you wearing right now?
I am wearing one of our Ingenieur 40mm automatic pieces - the stainless steel version, with the aqua dial. It is a beautiful blue and green dial, pairing fantastically with the shiny, stainless steel case of the watch.
